Application Process

Potential applicants to Rush University Medical Center's Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program should note that eligibility requires a minimum of three years of medical training in the United States, of which at least two should be a residency in Internal Medicine. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine at the time of starting Fellowship in Cardiology.

Rush University Medical Center is a participant in the National Resident Matching Program's (NRMP) computerized match for the medical subspecialties (MSMP) and it is, therefore, a requirement that you register for the Medical Specialties Matching Program. We are now accepting applications via ERAS® (Electronic Residency Application Service). Please visit the ERAS® website for general information including requirements for completion of the ERAS Application, required fees, how to request a token needed to access an ERAS application and contact information for ERAS which is operated by the Association of American Medical Colleges.

In addition to the ERAS common application and documents, a supplemental questionnaire and $35 fee is required. Please download and complete the supplement form below and mail it with a $35 check/money order which must be received no later than January 15, 2008.

A completed application must include:

• Personal Statement
• Minimum of three letters of recommendation, one being from your Residency Program Director
• Recent Photo
• ECFMG certification, if applicable
• Supplemental questionnaire and fee

The deadline for submission of applications is January 15th.

Only those candidates’ folders, which are complete, will be reviewed by the Fellowship Program Director for consideration of an interview. If an interview is granted you will be contacted by us and arrangements will be made accordingly.

Group interview sessions are conducted in March and April and each applicant will be interviewed by the Program Director, Assistant Program Director or Section Director and key faculty members. Interviews sessions begin with an overview of the Fellowship program by the Program Director and Rotation Directors. There will be time for candidates to meet and talk to current Fellows in the program during a group lunch and tour of the medical center.
