Application Process
The Section of Gastroenterology and Nutrition accepts Fellowship applications only from candidates that are presently in or have graduated from an American, university based or affiliated, and 3-year accredited Internal Medicine residency program.
Candidates should be eligible to take the Board Examination in Internal Medicine at the time of starting Fellowship in Gastroenterology. We do accept J1 and H1B visa applicants.
You can apply to our program via ERAS, an online, electronic application service (www.aamc.org/eras) for all positions beginning on July 1, 2009. The application process will begin on December 1, 2007. However, applicants will be able to access ERAS effective July 2007 to coordinate their application material. Applications can be electronically submitted to programs on November 15, 2007. Applicants should be ready to transmit on this date to ensure that they meet the deadline of January 1, 2008. All application packets must include three letters of recommendation, copies of USMLE scores, personal statement, and curriculum vitae.
We are participating in the MATCH for 2009 applicants. The schedule for applying and interviewing is as follows:

ERAS Post office opens to fellowship applicants. They can research GI programs and coordinate application materials. |

Applicants can electronically apply (through ERAS) to programs of their choice. |

Programs can access ERAS to download applications submitted to them. |

GI Match opens for on-line registration by programs and applicants. |
| January – April 2008 |
Programs interview applicants. |
| Early June 2008 |
The Match Rank Order List (ROL) Certifications due from programs and applicants. |
| Late June 2008 |
MATCH DAY! Match results for programs and applicants are posted to the NRMP website at 12 noon Eastern time. |

Interview Process
Applicants granted interviews should plan to spend at least one half day at the Medical Center. The applicant will meet with all core faculty members of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Rush University Medical Center.
