Steven K. Rothschild, MD

Dr. Rothschild is assistant professor of family medicine at Rush Medical College, and chairman of family medicine at Illinois Masonic Medical Center. He joined the Rush faculty in 1984, and was appointed chairman of family medicine at Illinois Masonic in 1993.
Dr. Rothschild also serves as associate chairman for clinical programs for the Department of Family Medicine at Rush. He is residency's geriatrics coordinator and serves as an associate editor of the World Book Rush University Medical Center Medical Encyclopedia.
Dr. Rothschild is the founder and director of the Neighborhood Family Practice of Pilsen, a practice based in a medically underserved Hispanic community on Chicago's near west side. The Pilsen office makes use of innovative approaches to inner-city health care, such as the use of trained community health workers to educate and assist Spanish-speaking elderly.
A 1980 graduate of the University of Michigan College of Medicine, Dr. Rothschild completed his residency in family practice at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital. He was certified by the American Board of Family Practice in 1984 and recertified in 1990. He was awarded the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatrics in 1988. In recognition of his excellence as a medical educator, Dr. Rothschild received the Nathan Smith Davis Award from Rush's 1994 Alternative Curriculum class.
