Thomas Dent, MD
Vice Chairman of Family Medicine
Rush Medical College
Dr. Dent is associate professor and vice chairman of family medicine at Rush Medical College. He joined the faculty in 1979.
Dr. Dent has served in many key positions in family medicine. He established the required Family Practice Core Clerkship for Rush Medical College students. Dr. Dent has extensive experience with managed care organizations and currently serves as president and chief executive officer of the Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Health Associates, the Rush physician hospital organization.
A 1976 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Dr. Dent served his residency at MacNeal Memorial Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois. He was certified by the American Board of Family Practice in 1979 and recertified in 1985 and 1991. He was awarded a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatrics in 1988.
The Rush Medical College class of 1984 presented Dr. Dent with the Phoenix Award for excellence as a medical educator. He is charter member of the Mark Lepper, MD, Society of Teachers.
