Residency in Otolaryngology

The Fourth Otolaryngology Year ­ R5

The resident spends the entire year at Rush on the Otolaryngology Service as the Chief Resident. This resident, in addition to clinical duties, is the administrative resident, responsible for issuing call schedules, daily assignments to junior residents, and also organizes and assigns case presentations at conferences. At the conclusion of the R5 year, the resident is expected to be able to perform complex otologic surgery, head and neck oncologic surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery, head and neck reconstructive and basic facial plastic surgery.
