Mission Statement
The Mission of the Dental Service of Rush University Medical Center shall be to provide the oral component of those quality comprehensive health services which are the goal of the Rush System for Health. This responsibility shall have multiple facets:
- To provide routine dental care for that segment of the defined population of one to one-and-one-half million who seek it at the Medical Center.
- To provide special dental care for those patients of the Medical Center who are unable, due to their compromised medical status, to secure that care from their former dentist.
- To provide a local opportunity to obtain quality dental care for the students and employees of the Medical Center and their families at a reasonable cost and under circumstances which require a minimum of time lost from work.
- To integrate appropriate exposure to basic dental concepts into the medical and nursing curricula.
- To undertake clinical dental research when relevant to the Mission.
- To strive to enhance the professional image of dentists as members of the comprehensive health care team within the milieu of the hospital.
- To provide a unique opportunity for a limited number of postgraduate dentists to gain both theoretical and practical experience in those aspects of medicine the understanding of which is essential in rendering dental care to medically compromised patients.
