James McAuley, MD, MPH
Program Director, Combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency
Dr. McAuley attended medical school at Northwestern University where he also received his MPH degree. From there he trained in internal medicine and pediatrics as well as infectious diseases at the University of Chicago. He worked extensively in Central and South America, Asia, and Africa while with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Epidemic Intelligence Service. Dr. McAuley’s career has focused extensively on primary health care to underserved and vulnerable populations locally, nationally, and internationally. Students and residents often work alongside Dr. McAuley in his NIH and CDC supported research in TB and HIV disease.

Jeremy Pripstein, MD

Associate Program Director, Combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency
Dr. Pripstein is board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics. He received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal and was trained in Med-Peds at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla. After graduation, he completed a faculty development fellowship in medical education at the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles and received a master's degree in education.
Dr. Pripstein came to Rush from the University of Kentucky where he was a clinical instructor in both internal medicine and pediatrics. He currently coordinates the educational development for residents and students at LMA.

Surabhi “Mona” Mehrotra, MD

Director of Inpatient Pediatric Services
Dr. Mehrotra is board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics. She received her medical degree from the Medical College of Virgina/Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond VA. and completed her residency at Rush University Medical Center. Before joining the Rush faculty, Dr. Mehrotra was an internal medicine hospitalist at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois. She is committed to community healthcare, most recently helping supervise a free student-run clinic in an underserved area in Chicago. She is also interested in educating high school students on preventative medicine.

Teresa Nam, MD

Teresa grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Cornell University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering and a Master’s degree. She then moved to Chad, Africa for the next two years where she worked in community development and as a Water Resource Engineer. Upon returning to the US, she decided to pursue a career in medicine. Prior to entering medical school, she worked with people with special health care needs and developed an interest in transitional medicine. Teresa recently graduated from the Med-Peds residency program at the University of Chicago. Teresa joined the Med-Peds faculty at Lifetime Medical Associates in late July and supervises residents and practices primary care. She will be instrumental in the development of special services focused on the transition of pediatric patients with complex medical needs to adulthood.

Clarence Parks, MD

Dr Parks is a Chicago native who obtained his BA with Honors at Knox College in Galesburg Illinois in 1992. He is a 1997 graduate of Rush Medical College’s problem-based curriculum.
Clarence completed his Med-Peds residency training in 2001 at Wayne State University / Detroit Medical Center, and was in primary care practice in Freeport, Illinois.
Throughout his professional career, Dr. Parks has received various awards and commendations and has been an active member in his local medical community. He is currently county Health Board President as well as Medical Director of the local hospice and chemical dependency programs. Clarence joined the Med-Peds faculty at Lifetime Medical Associates in June. He supervises residents, practices primary care, and participates in hospital rounding. He brings the wealth of experience of years in a busy practice and will mentor our residents interested in entering community practice.

Amanda Cockrell

Amanda Cockrell is ANCC certified in family medicine. She received her master’s degree from Rush University Medical Center. She has been a part of Rush Medical Center on and off for 10 years, and staff at Lifetime Medical Associates for the past 3 years. Along with being the first nurse practitioner at LMA, she is part time faculty at Rush University nursing program. Amanda has a special interest in diabetes, gynecology and adolescent medicine. She is currently pursuing her Certification in Diabetes Education.

Wendy Shulman, MEd
Program Administrator, Med-Peds Residency Program
A native Chicagoan, Wendy and her husband live in Oak Park where they raised two children who attended college in New York City. After receiving her bachelor's degree in education at Roosevelt University, she pursued her master's degree in education at DePaul University.
Wendy has worked in the past as a special education teacher and the coordinator for volunteer services at a large medical center. Prior to joining the Med-Peds program, she was one of two academic coordinators for the pediatric residency program. In her free time, Wendy enjoys gardening and partaking of the various cultural events and the fine cuisine that Chicago offers

Mia Thomas
Residency Coordinator, Pediatric and Med-Peds Residency Programs
After thirteen years of experience as a health care coordinator and administrator at Rush and another large Chicago teaching hospital, Mia joined the Pediatric and Med-Peds staff in 2007. Mia has worked extensively with medical students and residents in the past, and found it to be one of the most rewarding parts of her job. Mia is the proud mother of two daughters; her youngest is a high school Sophomore and her eldest daughter is currently serving as a military officer in the United States Army. In her free time, Mia enjoys traveling, outdoor festivals, reading, listening to live jazz and spending time with her family and friends.

Richard Abrams, MD
Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency Program
Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine
After completing his internal medicine training and chief residency at Rush, Dr. Abrams became a supervisor of resident ambulatory training. For the past twelve years, he has been an associate director of the internal medicine residency program, playing an integral role in internal medicine education. Dr. Abrams has academic interests in clinical epidemiology and medical decision-making.

Jane Kramer, MD
Program Director, Pediatric Residency Program
Associate Professor of Pediatrics
Dr. Kramer is a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School; she completed her pediatric residency training at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. She is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine. Dr. Kramer is the Pediatric Program Director and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics. She has been an active faculty member at Rush since 1988. Her honors include selection as “outstanding teaching attending” in 1996 and 2003, by the pediatric residents. She is the only member of our faculty to have received this award twice

Denean “Dee” Roberson
Administrative Manager
Dee has been a member of the LMA team since 1998. She has worked in various roles, including Certified Medical Assistant, Lead Coordinator and most recently Administrative Manager. Currently, she is attending Triton College persuing her nursing degree. Dee lives with her husband and two children in Maywood, Illinois. Her son attends North Park University, and her daughter will be a junior at Proviso East this fall.

Mary Nicholas, RN
Nurse Clinical Manager
Mary has worked for Lifetime Medical Associates since 1998. Prior to that she worked for the Teamsters’ Health Clinic and Rush Union Care. Mary was always a part-time nurse, until four years ago when she retired from being a full time Chicago Public School teacher to become the nurse manager at Lifetime. She enjoys working with the attendings and the residents.

Amber Bradford
Licensed Practical Nurse
Amber has been a member of the LMA family since 2006. Previously, she worked at another large
teaching institution. Amber is the proud mother of an 8 year old daughter. In the fall, she will begin to pursue a higher nursing degree. Amber enjoys working directly with the patients, residents and attendings.
