Information for Applicants
Thank you for your interest in the Pediatric Residency Program at Rush University Medical Center and Rush Children’s Hospital. We accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) from graduates of American and Canadian LCME-accredited medical schools and American osteopathic medical schools.
The Pediatric Residency Program at Rush is happy to review all applications submitted by December 1, 2007. We are unable to interview all qualified applicants. Thus early submission of your application is encouraged. Early submission of USMLE Step I and Step II scores is also encouraged. (For students at osteopathic medical schools, COMLEX Part I and II scores are accepted.)
We require a minimum of three letters of recommendation. These should be solicited from physicians who know you and your work well. A Chair’s letter is not required.
When your application is reviewed, you will be notified by e-mail regarding an interview. Your application may be placed on hold if incomplete. An invitation to interview does not guarantee a spot, so please respond promptly. Our interview season runs from November 1 until the end of January. We typically interview two to three days per week.
During the interview day, which lasts until mid-afternoon, the applicant will attend a teaching conference, tour our facilities, and meet with faculty and housestaff. Once weekly our residents host a dinner for applicants who are in Chicago.
Should you have questions, please contact our residency manager, Wendy Shulman, M.Ed., at 312-942-2127 or RushPedsResidency@rush.edu.
Rush also offers a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Please address inquiries regarding this to the program coordinator at MedPeds@rush.edu.
We look forward to hearing from you!
