Personnel
The liver transplant program is under the direction of
S. Forrest Dodson, MD,
who trained at the University of Pittsburgh with transplant pioneer Thomas
E. Starzl, MD. In his decade of service at the University of Pittsburgh,
Dr. Dodson was the most active transplant surgeon, personally performing
more than 800 liver transplants and numerous hepatic resections. He also
developed expertise in living related liver transplantation, hepatic
re-transplantation and split liver transplantation. His research interests
include liver transplantation for hepatitis B and hepatitis C, and he has
published more than 100 articles on transplantation.
