Pancreas Transplant Program
Pancreas Transplant Program Patient Handbook

How can I get more information on pancreas transplantation?

James Staros on a follow-up office visit with the transplant endocrinologist, Dr. Susan Braithwaite.

If you have Type I diabetes mellitus, you should discuss the option of a pancreas transplant with your diabetologist (diabetes specialist), nephrologist (kidney specialist), or primary care physician (internist or family practice physician). If your physician believes this treatment would benefit you, he or she will refer you to a transplant surgeon for an initial evaluation to determine if you are a candidate for a transplant. If you do not have a physician who is knowledgeable about this treatment option, contact a transplant program for further information.
