Clinic Visits and Evaluation

The Pancreas Transplant Program maintains its clinic at the Rush University Medical Center in the Professional Building III, Suite #161; 1725 West Harrison Street; Chicago, Ill. 60612; Phone No. (312) 942-4252. Plans have been instituted to provide clinics in the suburban areas as well. Clinic visits initially are twice per week in the morning on Monday and Thursday. The patient is requested to provide their diary inclusive of their blood pressures, weights, oral intake and blood sugars. They are also requested to not take their immunosuppressive medication that morning so that a 12 hour trough level of the drug can be obtained. The visit usually takes 15 to 20 minutes. Medications are reviewed and laboratory values are obtained. A physical examination is done routinely. Instructions for the follow up period are provided and the patient is rescheduled for the next appointment.
