Treatment for Micrognathia and Pierre Robin Sequence

  • Initial team evaluation
  • Mandibular and airway expansion through internal or external distraction osteogenesis (infancy and childhood)
  • Tracheostomy (if necessary) with early decannulation after mandibular distraction
  • Cleft palate repair (12-24 months)
  • Annual team evaluation with airway and speech emphasis
  • Dentistry: oral health education, pediatric dentistry and orthodontic treatment in late transitional and permanent dentition
  • Definitive skeletal habilitation with distraction osteogenesis or orthognathic surgery
