HIV Treatment Program

group photoSince 1984, the HIV Treatment Program in the Rush Section of Infectious Diseases has lead the way in treating patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Our research includes immunologic and virologic studies of progressive HIV infection, as well as therapies for opportunistic infections. From 1984 to 1987, pharmaceutical companies sponsored our clinical trials. In 1987, we became part of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG), a national study of HIV and AIDS sponsored by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health. Currently, we continue to conduct new therapeutic and prophylactic studies sponsored by both pharmaceutical companies and the federal government.

To schedule an appointment with an HIV specialist at Rush, please call the Section of Infectious Diseases at (312) 942-3665. You may need to get a referral from your primary care physician before your appointment.
