Remember Rush in Your Will or Trust

Gay Allen generously provides for Rush's future through a provision in her will.Bequests are an easy way to help ensure Rush will continue offering excellent medical care, groundbreaking research, transformative education and essential community outreach long into the future. Including Rush in your will or trust enables you to leave a lasting legacy and have an impact on lives around the world.

Advantages of bequests to Rush

  • Support an important cause while maintaining your finances in a stable manner
  • Customize a gift of cash and/or assets
  • Deduct the bequest value from your estate taxes
  • Create a lasting legacy for you and your family, while still supporting yourself and your loved ones

Read about how Gay Allen (right) decided to make a bequest to Rush: “I hope my gift will help them save many lives, just as they saved mine.”

Here is sample bequest language you can share with your attorney:

“I give, devise and bequeath to Rush University Medical Center, an Illinois not-for-profit corporation, having its principal offices in the City of Chicago, State of Illinois, (a specific amount or a percentage of the estate) to be used for its general purposes (you may insert an area of Rush you wish to support).”

 If a gift is restricted:

“In the event the (purpose of the restriction) can no longer be served, my gift may be used for other appropriate purposes as reasonably determined by Rush. “
